We are looking for a Director of English Language Learning to start at the beginning of Term 4. You will be passionate about teaching young women.

Job Description

You will:

• Be skilled in teaching English as an additional language at all levels from Year 7 to Year 13
• Be able to teach English Literature at all levels from Year 7 to Year 13
• Have an interest in translanguaging and supporting students in bilingual learning environments, currently in Mandarin and English, but potentially in other languages in the future
• Direct, coordinate, monitor, implement and evaluate the delivery and assessment of English Language Learning at Dio
• Ensure all programmes and procedures comply with national guidelines and school policies
• Create content and lead Professional Development
• Work with the Director of International Students to provide a safe space for all English Language Learners at Dio, both domestic and international
• Manage a teacher aide who provides in-class and withdrawal tutoring to support English Language Learners in all subjects
• Be committed to being part of a friendly, collegial, and supportive environment

Desired Skills And Experience

You will bring:

• A Degree in English, Linguistics, Education or related field and be a Registered Teacher
• A CELTA or equivalent qualification in teaching English as an additional language
• 5 years’ experience teaching English as an additional language
• Academic management experience preferred
• Attention to detail, organisational skills, the ability to work under pressure to deadlines

We offer students a dual pathway with NCEA and International Baccalaureate. IB Teaching experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be available.
