What’s in it for you:
Our team works closely with schools, academies, and early years settings to plan the allocation of funding. This role offers the opportunity to make a difference to the lives of Dorset children by ensuring their education settings are funded in the best way. We offer a supportive team and work collaboratively with stakeholders to make the best use of available resources. Full training will be provided on all aspects of the role.
What you can expect to be doing:
This is a financial role that also involves organising the work of the Dorset Schools’ Forum. The Dorset Schools’ Forum is an advisory group of head teachers, school governors and non-school members with specific decision-making powers who meet with the local authority (LA) to consider financial matters relating to schools and wider education. (More information can be found on the Dorset School’s Forum webpages: https://www.dorsetnexus.org.uk/Services/4026)
Financial work relates to the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) and will involve checking and monitoring school budgets and updating tracking spreadsheets. School budget monitoring includes checking forecast of outturn reports at least three times a year and investigating variances. Liaison work is also required with the bank in respect of school procurement cards.
The Schools’ form role will involve overseeing the web pages, agreeing the agenda and future workplan with senior managers, organising the Schools’ Forum meetings, producing minutes, and updating the action log.
About you:
We are looking for a team player with good financial and organisational skills. It will be essential to work collaboratively, communicate effectively and meet deadlines.
Additional information:
Working time will be spent partly at home and partly in the office at County Hall in Dorchester. All equipment will be provided for working at home.
This post requires you to have access to sensitive information. It will be subject to a Basic Criminal Records Check. See our policy on the employment of ex-offenders.
See our policy on safeguarding children and young people.
