Edmonton Catholic School is looking for an Educational Assistant at J.H. Picard School. The successful candidate will be working mornings only in an inclusive setting in a French speaking kindergarten class. This is a temporary position ending June 30, 2022.

The job works as part of a multi-disciplinary team to assist students in learning and developing skills in the areas of: socialization, communication and behavior. The job also provides general support in the classroom.

Job Responsibilities:
Assist teacher with planning, preparing and implementing programs to meet students’ needs;

Organize classroom materials, activities, equipment and programs;

Assist multi-disciplinary team with implementation of developmental strategies;

Behaviour management;

Provide a range of personal and physical care;

Assist co-workers during peak periods and absences.

Qualifications:
High School diploma plus certificate/diploma in an area related to early childhood education or special needs education, plus one year directly related experience, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications;

Knowledge of intervention techniques and strategies, first aid, CPR and administering medication;

Knowledge of Microsoft programs including Word, Outlook and the internet;

Ability to communicate with sensitivity, diplomacy and tact is essential;

Ability to effectively communicate in the English language both oral and written with the ability to develop and maintain communication with students, teachers and specialists; fluency in French is an asset;

Ability to travel to sites within Edmonton.

Must be a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
