About The Role
We are now seeking to recruit an Online Tutor to join the MA Education to support students in their first module, The Reflective Practitioner, with three cohorts every academic year. The module gives students the opportunity to reflect on their own practice using theory and research, with a particular focus on learning, teaching, leadership, and inclusive pedagogy. This module lays the foundation for further study on the MA Education as students examine their collaborative, professional, and communicative skills. The course culminates with the students undertaking a piece of research to further their practice.
The online tutor is vital to the daily success and vibrancy of the MA Education (online) course. Online tutors are a constant presence in the modules and a first academic point of contact for students supporting the learning activities as a member of the academic team. Courses are primarily asynchronous (not undertaken in real-time). Online tutors log in and tend to the activities in the modules at multiple points during the day and study week (including evenings and weekends). Tutors are typically responsible for up to 30 students.
This is a part-time, 10 hours per week, flexible home-working role which starts in September 2022.
About You
We are seeking an online tutor who works collaboratively and inclusively, seeking to deliver the best possible experience for the students. You will have some experience of working in student-facing roles within education, although this may be in a sector other than HE. You may have experience of working in a range of settings or you may be at an earlier stage in your career. You will be a life-long learner who enjoys learning and teaching. You will be familiar with some pedagogical theory and research and understand what this may look like in the digital classroom. You will model the practice we teach, such as including all learners. You will be ready to join a new team, and a new programme, and enjoy the challenges and opportunities that this will bring.
Due to the online nature of this role, it can be worked remotely. However, the successful candidate must be based within the UK and be able to start on the dates specified for the role.For full details of the skills/experience required, please see the full job description above.
