First Canada, our nation’s largest provider of bus passenger transportation, has openings for a Casual Transit Driver. Previous Transit experience not required, we will provide training to successful candidates. We offer competitive rates – after training and probation, the wage is $25.30 per hour, and progresses to $29.78 per hour after three years of driving for us. Join our team today!
AS A PUBLIC TRANSIT DRIVER YOU WILL:
Have ongoing courteous interactions with the public;
Maintain a clean and professional appearance and demeanor;
Drive one of several different coach/buses or company non-revenue vehicles in a safe, courteous, and reliable manner throughout the contracted service area within a daily assigned time schedule;
Perform pre/post trip vehicle inspections as required;
Assist in the boarding of passengers using wheelchairs or other mobility aids;
Complete and submit written reports concerning passengers and all incidents, and communicate with dispatch as required;
Operate on-board computer fare boxes and destination signs;
Perform all other duties assigned.
YOU HAVE:
Strong customer service skills;
An ability to work safely at all times;
3-year record of safe and responsible driving experience (driver’s abstract). However, commercial driving experience is not required;
Demonstrated ability to communicate/interact with the public (all levels of comprehension), management and other staff members in a courteous/respectful/efficient manner and to answer a variety of enquiries with tact and discretion;
Strong interpersonal and problem solving skills;
A willingness to work a variety of shifts;
Full COVID-19 vaccination;
To be able to pass vulnerable sector records check;
To be able to pass pre-employment drug testing.

Transit environment: early, split & late shifts may be required
