Foley & Lardner is seeking an associate (JD years 2017-2021) to join our Transactions Practice Group, supporting the fund formation/ investment management practice. The preferred location for the position is Boston, but candidates will be considered in any of the following offices: Austin, Chicago, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Jacksonville, Los Angeles, Madison, Miami, New York, San Francisco, Silicon Valley, or Tampa. Foley’s Transactions Practice Group is integrated nationally and principally handles M&A matters for publicly and privately held middle market/upper middle market companies, private equity funds, family offices and others. As a result, this position will involve working on US transactions with Foley lawyers in Boston, as well as various other Foley offices.Qualified candidates must have solid fund formation and investment management experience, including fund and management structuring, side letter negotiations, secondary sales, and Investment Advisers Act registration and compliance experience. The ideal candidate also will have sophisticated document drafting skill and the ability to manage complex projects and transactions. The candidate must be comfortable with direct interaction with both senior partners and clients and have a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and an exceptional work ethic, coupled with a desire to be part of a fast-paced, growing and collaborative environment.To be considered, a candidate must hold a JD from an ABA-approved law school and must be in good standing and an active member of the Bar of the state(s) where the candidate is admitted to practice.
