We are now seeking an experienced and self-motivated Canteen Assistant to join the close-knit team at our busy Whareroa Site Canteen.

The Role

Reporting to the Canteen Supervisor you will be fully involved with the day to day operations of the canteen ensuring excellent customer service, food preparation and all hygiene standards are met.

The hours of work in this role are Monday to Friday from 6am – 3pm.

You will be responsible for:

• Cooking and serving breakfast – 6am – 10.30am
• Preparing a full range of food and drinks within a hygienic environment
• Cash register operation
• Assisting with cleaning and ad-hoc duties

Skills and Experience

Along with a can-do attitude and friendly manner you’ll impress the team and customers with your attention to detail and excellent interpersonal skills.

Ideally you will possess:

• Previous experience working within the hospitality industry or with bulk food preparation
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations
• Experience with operating a till, cash handling and stock ordering
• Basic computer and numeracy skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work in a team
