The British Embassy in Dublin is part of a world-wide network, representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas, and is now recruiting for a Digital Communications Officer position. The Job Holder will proactively manage the British Embassy social media/digital accounts, working across the Embassy including our devolved government teams and with UK Government Departments on issues ranging from prosperity to culture and high level visits/events.
The role will work collaboratively with colleagues across the Embassy and the wider British diplomatic and civil service network, and with external partners to promote UK-Irish relations. Reflecting the varied work of the Embassy, this role covers a diverse range of topics, from climate change and culture, to current affairs and VVIP visits
The job holder will need to be prepared to work flexibly, with occasional out of hours duties (time off in lieu will be given) and to occasionally travel regionally and overseas.
All staff are required to contribute to the wider corporate activities of the Embassy and to support high level visits as required.

Colleagues are encouraged to develop their professional skills and to take responsibility for their own learning and development. This new role offers the opportunity to develop experience and knowledge of cross-government working. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has its own in-house training which is professionally accredited, offering a wide range of learning and development opportunities. You will be expected to undertake communications training and may need to travel for that.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Ireland are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Irish employment law.
