Main purpose of job:

The UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) is recruiting for the position of DIT LATAC Digital Marketing and Communications Officer to support the delivery of an impactful and exciting programme of communications activity throughout the year across the Latin America & the Caribbean region.

The DIT LATAC Digital Marketing and Communications Officer will develop content formats for a range of social media platforms, Social Media Communications assets (copywriting) and will widely support the Marketing and Communications hub team in campaigns for Latin America & the Caribbean. This professional will also support with Marketing and Communications tasks like social media management and the administration of a social media content calendar. .

The successful candidate will also provide input into campaign planning to ensure content is planned, designed and developed on time according to the overall strategy, taking into account platforms, target audiences and commercial teams’ objectives.

The position will report directly to the Deputy Head of Communications for the Department for International Trade and will be based in the British Embassy in Mexico City, while working remotely with colleagues from different parts of the Latin America and the Caribbean region like Colombia, Peru, Ecuador, Panama and others.

It will be a full time position starting April 2022, subject to receipt of a successful security clearance.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:

Communications

• Support in the development and creation of high-quality original digital content including video, graphics, photography and copywriting for the DIT social media channels in support of key strategic objectives.
• Champion the use of storytelling in copywriting to enhance the impact and engagement of video and written content
• Assist in the development and implementation of strategies and editorial calendar planning for social media channels, and support Public Relations, Event Promotion and other activities according to the different sectors’ demands.
• Work closely with DIT Head Quarters in London, FCO Latin America & the Caribbean Regional Comms Hub and Press and Comms Network.

Digital Marketing

• Become a digital branding champion in the Latin America & the Caribbean network and ensure adherence to DIT and GREAT brand guidelines
• Produce monthly Highlights Reports and KPI reports on Social Media performance, providing analysis on good practices, insights and trends, in order to assure constant high-quality maintenance of our online channels.
• Be responsible for any first response and contact from stakeholders and businesses who approach the organization through online channels and provide follow-up with respective sectors accordingly.
• Assist in the development of marketing collaterals and provide support to posts in the region
• Assists in the development, update and delivery of LATAC documents such as key messages & core scripts, sectors and countries One Pagers, when necessary.

Corporate

• Be the LATAC Marketing and Communications Hub finance officer; manage budgets and admin funds. Budget to be managed (10,000 GBP)
• Assist with administrative activities such as internal reports.
• As an overall requirement for the Embassy values and culture, the candidate will have to be make corporate contribution to the British Embassy in Mexico and champion DIT & FCO values.

This position will also undertake other duties that may be reasonably required, and which are in accordance with the grading and core competencies of the job.

• A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Communications, or similar)
• Minimum 2 years’ experience producing high quality visual content and effective copywriting for impactful campaigns on Social Media
• Strong video production and graphic design skills and an expert in Adobe Suite or Final Cut Pro
• Desirable experience working in Communications departments or agencies
• Experience taking briefs and ability to establish a clear and nuanced understanding of client needs whilst at the same time able to shape and guide those with lesser experience on the best way to develop digital content and marketing assets
• Strong attention to detail, organised and efficient in work and time management
• Understanding of the full range of MS Office suite including Outlook and Excel.
• Confident in dealing with a range of suppliers and contacts at all levels.
• A positive and flexible team player who is willing to contribute to the team’s overall objectives
• Able to deal with a range of competing priorities in a calm, efficient and professional manner, with a keen eye for detail.
• A confident self-starter, able to form effective relationships quickly both within and outside the team.
• Willingness to travel within Mexico and internationally
