Join an exciting and dynamic team delivering a large-scale Enterprise Common Tools cloud platform, automation & orchestration, and Cloud Application Migration effort for the Army. This team works in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with engineering, migration, and operations & sustainment of cloud migration efforts. Enterprise Common Tools and specific Army program customer migration efforts provide a range of day-to-day challenges, while the bigger picture architecture and migration efforts provide tangible milestones that the team pursues together following AGILE practices, to deliver the overall program effort. We’re looking for self-starter to lead technical engineers and architects, to work both as part of the team and on individual assignments, in an environment of customer mission delivery, integrity and communications. We’re looking to fill this role with someone who currently has the cloud experience, certifications, and skills to execute in large enterprise environments, are flexible and enjoy tackling challenges, and desire to join a large team that is building and sustaining a large multi-tenant cloud platform/enterprise and migrating/expanding/automating the enterprise. The Cloud Engineering and Architecture Manager manages all cloud and platform architecture, engineering and collaborates with program leaders to deliver core cloud services such as provisioning, drive use of automation and DevSecOps pipeline toolchains, and provides mentorship to co-workers, leads customer engagements, and directs activities. This role collaborates with and is accountable to the Program Technical Director which has oversight for technical approach and Program Manager which owns overarching program delivery.

• Act to resolve issues which prevent the team working effectively.

• Be an active part of the leadership team and collaborate with other leaders in the program

• Oversee, and Architect and engineer cost optimized cloud solutions using AWS well-architected framework and FinOps best practice

• Oversee, and Architect and engineer cloud automation capabilities

• Oversee, and Architect and engineer DevSecOps capabilities

• Advocate modern, agile software development practices

• Analyze complex ideas or proposals and build a range of meaningful recommendations.

• Use multiple sources of information including broader stakeholder views to develop solutions and recommendations.

• Advocate and implement site reliability engineering (SRE) best practices

• Address sub-standard work or work that does not meet firm’s/client’s expectations.

• Use data and insights to inform conclusions and support decision-making.

• Help develop and evangelize great engineering and organizational practices

• Recommends and supports Cloud MSP Strategy and Governance

• Develops and delivers reusable, compliant tech stacks, enabled and orchestrated with IaC and offered through a service catalog

• Translates cloud usage policies into guardrails and monitored through cloud security posture management capabilities like AWS Config

• Troubleshoot technical issues with customer

• Provide solutions to resolve issues.

• Regularly review and maintain Standard Operating Procedure documents.

• Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties.

• Simplify complex messages, highlighting and summarizing key points.

Required Qualifications:

• BA/BS and 7+ years of experience. (Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related area is preferred)

• DoD 8570 Security+ CE, or equivalent IAM Level-I/IAT Level-II – Required

• One AWS Associate-Level Certification

• Cloud migration experience

• Experience leading cloud engineering and/or architecture teams

• Experience engineering and architecting enterprise level systems

• Windows & Linux enterprise experience

• Endpoint hardening and NIST 800-53 ATO experience

• Excellent listening and interpersonal skills

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong attention to detail and requirements

• Motivated team player

• Ability to adapt to change and maintain composure under stressful conditions.

• Excellent customer service skills, communications skills, reading comprehension, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees

• Active Secret Clearance Required

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding cloud architecture and implementation features (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability)

• Understanding the design of Multi-Cloud Services

• Possessing thorough knowledge of cloud architecture, cloud native patterns, container management and cloud computing capabilities especially as offered by one or more cloud providers: AWS, Azure, or GCP

• Understanding Core AWS security and auditing capabilities

• Understanding IT systems and cloud computing

• Experience utilizing cloud security controls, network boundary controls, and related toolsets

• Understanding agile software development and DevOps practices such as Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD

• Having hands-on software troubleshooting.

• AWS Solutions Architect – Professional

• Any Associate level DevOps certification

• Terraform Associate Certification

• FinOps Certified Associate

• SAFe Agile certification

• ITIL Foundations certification
