We are looking for a motivated Junior Software Engineer to join our team and play a pivotal role in the development and integration of our major software applications across various functional domain areas. In this remote work position, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects that span User Interface (UI) development, digital mapping, messaging, and software documentation.

Position Overview

As a Junior Software Engineer, you will work closely with a supportive team and report to the President and/or Lead Software Engineer. You will have the opportunity to learn and grow while contributing to the development and enhancement of our software solutions. This role offers a remote work arrangement, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own space.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate in the creation of multi-threaded, cross-platform Geospatial Information System (GIS) applications using the Java programming language and JavaFX.

Develop comprehensive software documentation using JavaDoc and other specified documentation tools.

Implement and integrate various GIS capabilities, adhering to NASA World Wind and OGC standards like WMS, GeoPackage, and WMTS, including both 2-D and 3-D mapping.

Create test cases, procedures, and Junit methods to ensure software quality.

Assist in tracking and resolving Software Trouble Reports (STR).

Desired Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with 1-3 years of programming experience who possess the following skills:

Familiarity with version control systems, including Git.

Strong knowledge of Java programming, with a focus on JavaFX.

Experience with web development tools and languages, such as JavaScript.

Comfortable working in both MS Windows and Linux environments.

Bonus points for experience in Android development and proficiency in Android Studio.
