Key Responsibilities:
Administration of benefits & and group retirement savings plans – Including RRSP, DPSP and pensions- including enrollments, changes & terminations
Liaise with benefit vendors for claims management
First point of contact for companywide benefit and pension related inquiries (specifically for the French divisions)
Conduct monthly benefit and pension audits to ensure accuracy of enrollments, changes, and/or terminations
Work to streamline processes
Responsible for the review, and reconciliation and payments of monthly invoicing
Liaise with payroll for integration and maintenance of transmission files (relating to benefits)
Provides translation support to the Disability Team with respect to leaves of absence such as Pregnancy, Parental, Short-Term and Long-Term Disability
Knowledge of Collective Agreements and how to apply to GFL’s benefits program
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
Post-secondary degree/diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field or an approved equivalency
Three to Four (3-4) years of experience in a Benefits Administrator role
GBA and/or CEBS designation is an asset
Knowledge of Employee Benefits, Pension, Payroll and Accounting procedures and practices is required
Advance knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook required
Knowledge and understanding and ability to apply collective agreements as they pertain to pension and benefits
The ability to meet strict deadlines, work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment that is subject to change with minimal notice
Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels
Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
Strong attention to detail
Knowledge of HRIS systems, preferably Workday
Demonstrated knowledge of payroll and provincial tax laws required and ability to stay current on legislation changes
Ability to prioritize, handle multiple priorities and maintain the highest level of confidentiality
Strong time management and communication skills coupled with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
