Role Profile
We are recruiting for an Insurable Risk Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day management and operational excellence of Tirlán’s Group-wide insurance programme. The successful candidate will work with the relevant internal stakeholders and external partners on the operational delivery of the programme as well as the development and implementation of the overall strategic direction of the programme.
Tirlán’s corporate functions operate from a collaborative hub located in Kilkenny city, with another collaborative hub at Citywest in Dublin. Hybrid working is also a major feature of Tirlán’s operating philosophy. This role will report to the Group Secretary.
Responsibilities
Developing and implementing a clear strategy for the insurable risk programme and other insurance initiatives.
Managing the annual insurance renewal programme through an inclusive approach with the operational teams to understand their risk issues and determine their insurance requirements.
Manage the day-to-day operational management and performance of global and local insurance policies, third party providers, brokers and insurers.
Interfacing with external partners and the Finance team to ensure all claims are properly recorded, effectively managed and appropriately provided for.
Ensuring timely, comprehensive and accurate reporting of insurance-related events and exposures to our insurance providers, Business Units (BU) and Leadership team.
Assisting, in conjunction with the external brokers and BU teams, in the implementation of the legal and insurance regulatory compliance obligations.
Implementing effective overall governance of the insurance function including policies, processes, procedures, regulations and controls.
Executing regular control and oversight procedures to ensure insurance programmes are fit for purpose in response to new or evolving risks.
Providing guidance and advice on insurance related matters.
Co-ordinating the delivery of the annual risk management audit programme and the follow through of agreed actions.
Management of Insurance & Risk Due Diligence exercises for potential acquisitions.
Acting as the point of contact with the Tirlán Finance team on annual insurance premium BU charge outs.
Requirements
Relevant undergraduate / postgraduate qualification desirable e.g. a holder of, or working towards, professional insurance or risk management qualifications.
Experience of managing insurance programmes and the relevant underlying regulatory environment desirable.
Alternatively, relevant career experience in a Finance, Business Process Management or Risk Management related role.
The ability to engage, interact and develop strong working relationships at all levels with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong commercial acumen and a data-driven approach to decision making.
Ability to effectively plan and organise the workload to meet business timescales and renewal deadlines.
IT / systems proficiency, e.g., SAP, MS Office suite, data analytics.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with an ability to deliver complex issues in a clear and concise manner to a wide audience.
