The Opportunity

PEBA is seeking analytical, resourceful, detail-oriented pension professionals to join us as a Pension Information Officer on (the Public Employees’ Pension Plan team or Municipal Employee’s Pension Plan team). As a dedicated team of pension professionals, we provide clear and timely information to our customers and ensure accuracy of our pension administration systems.

As a Pension Information Officer, you will:

• Respond to Plan member inquiries and provide excellent customer service;
• Communicate pension plan provisions, legislation, and procedures to plan members, and other stakeholders by phone, mail, and in-person client consultations;
• Investigate and resolve discrepancies based on data received from plan members and employers;
• Enter, verify and maintain accurate Plan member and pensioner records within appropriate database; and
• Audit the work performed or calculated by other staff members.

Ideal Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Knowledge of Pension Plan administration including Defined Benefit and Defined Contribution pension plans and/or administration in the financial services industry or relevant role;
• The ability to accurately perform mathematical calculations;
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail in order to maintain employee records and process pension entitlements and payroll transactions;
• The ability to problem solve by referencing, understanding and following legislation, policies, and procedures;
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to provide client service over the phone, in person and through written communication;
• Organizational skill and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, take into consideration changing priorities and tight deadlines; and
• Thorough, conscientious, and attentive to detail to ensure quality and accuracy of work.

Typically, the knowledge and experience required to achieve the above is obtained through:

• Post-secondary degree or diploma in business administration;
• Completion of the Pension Plan Administration Certificate course (PPAC) and/or the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program (CEBS);
• Experience in a pension plan administrative or a financial services customer service role; and/or
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.
