The Fine Collection Branch in the Ministry of Justice is seeking a well-organized, energetic individual who enjoys a fast-paced, high volume work environment for the position of Accounting and Administrative Coordinator.
Reporting to the Supervisor, the successful candidate will:
process, record, deposit, and reconcile high volumes of fine payments;
prepare fine payment refunds and adjustments;
enter, update, and retrieve data as it relates to Summary Offence Tickets;
respond to inquiries from the general public, police agencies, other government agencies, and court offices by providing information on the payment of fines, status of tickets, information on charges laid, or the Fine Option Program;
act as a collection liaison to assist with the collection and enforcement of unpaid fines;
compose correspondence and provide administrative support to the branch;
maintain the electronic and paper filing systems in accordance with ARMS and ORS; and
perform other office administrative duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Our ideal candidate will have the ability to analyze issues to solve problems and provide solutions; knowledge and experience in various computer applications, office procedures and equipment; and basic knowledge of accounting/math skills and Provincial Court procedures.
Typically, the knowledge, competencies required for this position would be obtained through a certificate or diploma in office education or administration with related work experience in an office setting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
