The Ministry of Corrections Policing & Public Safety has a permanent part time career opportunity as a Finance and Administration Clerk. We are looking for an organized, conscientious and thorough individual to work with the team in the Financial Policy and Controls.

Reporting to Manager, Program Support, you will be responsible for:

ensuring that invoices and employee travel expenses are verified and processed daily in accordance with acts, regulations, policies and procedures;

reviewing and validating processed expenditures;

processing deposits;

accurately reference, interpret/explain acts, regulations, policies and guidelines;

answer payment inquiries;

record and file documents;

providing administrative services to the Executive Director, Policing and Crime Prevention and the Executive Director, Policing & Community Safety Services; and

being the division’s contact for all records management related requests and questions.

As needed you will provide administrative support to the Seizure of Criminal Property Program, Private Investigators and Security Guards Program, and the Vehicle Impoundment against Sexual Exploitation (VISE) Program.

The successful candidate will possess knowledge of accounting principles and procedures relating to accounts payable, journal entries and reconciling accounts. Knowledge of payroll will be an asset. The successful candidate will also be organized and demonstrate flexibility in prioritizing tasks in order to fulfill the above duties accurately and within firm deadlines.
