This position will allow you to further develop your transportation skills and make it your own. You will be able to utilize our state-of-the-art dispatching system to manage a fleet/unit of drivers. Through this software and your drivers, you will provide a direct customer interface by building relationships and strategically meeting customer needs.
Position Summary:
Dispatcher will be joining an existing team of professionals in our operations department. As a dispatcher you will report to the Operations Manager. Key responsibilities are scheduling, coordinating pick-up, delivery, tracking of loads with customers, drivers and co-workers, assuring timely and satisfactory delivery of freight and maintaining internal systems to accurately reflect shipment status.
Primary Responsibilities:
Determine efficient schedules and coordinate pick-ups & deliveries to effectively utilize vehicle inventory
Confirm vehicles and drivers have adequate equipment, are properly credentialed and are adequately staffed for each trip; issue keys, record sheets & other necessary paperwork for each shipment
Perform prompt and accurate data entry and requests into various internal systems as well as complete necessary paperwork in a neat and organized fashion
Track and monitor loads/shipments and professionally communicate with colleagues, management, drivers, and customers to prevent and rectify issues and problems
Communicate with terminals and other modes of transportation, when necessary, to ensure pick-ups and deliveries are not delayed and customer needs are met.
Ensure proper coverage for upcoming loads and shipments, communicate with customers and suppliers regarding scheduling and issues, and take calls from drivers to keep systems and stakeholders updated
Monitor equipment to move it as quickly as possible to reduce empty equipment and labor costs
Complete all ad-hoc reporting requests including monitoring of on-time performance for drivers, prepare tracking reports for customers, and other reports requested by management
This position will give the Dispatcher a lot of freedom to operate. If you would like to be micro managed this position is not for you.
