The Application Portfolio Lead (APL) serves as a key point of contact for a suite of technology applications within Grant Thornton (“the firm”). The APL is accountable for the creation and upkeep of the information and documentation specific to assigned applications within the Enterprise Transformation (ET) application inventory. Further, the APL is accountable for the stewardship of application requests through ET Governance processes. The APL will collaborate with other APLs and Business Relationship Leads (BRL)s to align applications within the ET technology portfolio (applications, services, databases, etc.) to the firm’s business capability needs, and balance the applications’ expectations with portfolio rationalization.
The APL uses knowledge of the firm’s existing technology portfolio to help develop value-oriented technology plans, which guide both proactive and reactive decision-making based on regular business cycles, unforeseen demands, constraints, and dependencies inherent in GT’s business environment.
In collaborative partnership with clients (intra-firm business partners) and functional managers in Enterprise Transformation, the APL provides consultation on creative, cost-effective solutions to enhance the firm’s existing and/or nascent capabilities. To accomplish this, the APL draws from knowledge not only of existing service-line and business function specific technologies, but also of the firm’s available enterprise tools, software, and development capabilities which may solve for the need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as a dedicated point of contact for assigned for application business owners, ET representatives as well as individuals within the firm’s Strategic Sourcing and Procurement Services (SSPS) organization.
Steward application requests through standard ET processes and support the refinement and enhancement of ET processes.
Complete and maintain accuracy of application information by documenting the key attributes of applications by technical portfolio and how the application supports key business functions.
Assist in matching business’s request for applications with existing technology solutions in firm’s inventory.
Conduct regular reviews to evaluate investment performance of the service line or business portfolio against stated goals, objectives, and requirements in partnership with BRLs and other ET representatives; identify redundant applications for assessment.
Work with application business owners, ET representatives and other technical resources to prioritize Minor Enhancement Requests (MER)s for execution.
Liaise with application business owners to confirm current and future needs for the application; assist ET Governance and SSPS with contract renewal efforts.
Follow standard procedures and complete necessary documentation and communications for sunsetting applications.
Work directly with BRLs to update technology roadmaps based on changes to applications within the application inventory.
Maintain backlog of requests, and work with BRLs and APLs on planning and sequencing of enhancements, upgrades/version releases, requested integrations and any other effort that impacts a specific application within the portfolio.
Assist the business in matching existing technology solutions to requests for applications with awareness of the business’s technology portfolio and roadmaps.
Assist in the support of information to provide data driven decision making for the application portfolio.
Assist business partners with navigating ET processes and identify the right ET and firm resources to help with issues when needed.
Use application and portfolio management processes to support evidence-based decisions making on ET investments.
Escalate to Business

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in business-related field
Minimum 3 years’ experience in IT Management, preferably 5+ years’ experience
Strong understanding of IT operating models and experience working with multiple teams to develop and assess strategies and deliver suitable solutions
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of business operations in advisory, audit and tax professional services industry as well as professional services firm back-office operations is preferred.
Knowledge of business operational functions including one or more of the following: Finance, Accounting, Human Resources/People and Community, Risk, Compliance, IT, Legal, preferred.
Proven history of successfully managing business relationships.
Willingness and proficiency in being collaborative, encourage others to join collaboration, be cooperative and garner support and influence of others.
Experience working in different software procurement and deployment methodologies.
Willingness to establish and maintain a personal brand on behalf of our organization, as demonstrated by being on camera during virtual meetings and attending in-office meetings as called.
Comfort and competence in leading/facilitating meetings with key stakeholders and firm leaders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Prior relevant consulting or professional services experience highly preferred.
Strong ability to connect dots across business and technology areas to bring the pieces together in analyzing, solutioning and problem solving.
Strong ability to manage change and cope with complex and ambiguous situations.
Experience collaborating with business partners to collect, vet and assess requirements for minor enhancement requests and application upgrades.
Experience preparing briefings and other written materials for senior executives.
Experience working on technology decommissioning strategies/planning.
Experience with system development life cycle (SDLC), application development, system implementation and/or system integration project management.
The base salary range for this position in the firm’s Denver, CO office only is between $86,300 and $143,800.
The base salary range for this position in the firm’s New York, NY, Melville, NY, Bellevue, WA, Los Angeles, CA, Orange County, CA and San Diego, CA offices only is between $93,200 and $155,300.
The base salary range for this position in the firm’s San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA offices only is between $99,200 and $165,400.
