Job Title: Education Officer, The Guardian Foundation
Salary: The salary range for this role is £32,000-34,000 per annum. We strive for transparency in remuneration.
This post is a fixed term maternity leave cover. The successful candidate will start in September 2022 for a 9 month period, with possibility of extension.
Hybrid working: 3-4 days per week at Kings Place, 90 York Way, Kings Cross, London N1 and 1-2 days per week working from home.

Our Behind the Headlines programme empowers young people to understand, critically analyse, engage with and participate in the media. We deliver innovative and authentic workshops, rooted in journalism and educational best practice.
We are looking for a talented and motivated Education Officer for a fixed-term maternity cover. You will be passionate about inspiring young people about news and supporting them to develop critical media literacy skills. As a qualified teacher, you will need at least three years teaching experience in secondary education in a relevant subject combined with a wide knowledge of the curriculum and current education initiatives.
The majority of this role will involve teaching and facilitating workshops to young people aged 11-18. This will be through full and half day workshops in our Education Centre learning space and shorter virtual sessions. The successful candidate will be learning focused, adaptable with an ability to use their initiative, and able to deliver engaging and high quality educational experiences. You should have strong digital skills and be confident in using and teaching with technology. Enthusiasm and creative thinking are essential and you should have a real desire for inclusion and widening participation in the media industry.
