Duties & Responsibilities
Provides personal care for residents including all activities of daily living to ensure their optimum physical, social and emotional well-being.
Communicates effectively with residents, staff and families.
Provides excellent customer service at all times. Is respectful, courteous and pleasant. Provides individualized service and creates a home-like atmosphere.
Observes and reports changes in the resident’s status.
Records necessary data (e.g. flow sheets).
Shares responsibility for the care of equipment in the Home and the personal belongings of residents.
Works co-operatively with team members.
Receives direction from registered staff.
Participates in quality improvement activities as directed.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
Essential
Secondary School Graduation Diploma and a Personal Support Worker Certificate from a recognized college are required.
Previous experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation or long-term care is required.
The incumbent must be team oriented, must possess effective communication skills and have a genuine desire to care for the elderly.
Must have an understanding of the Residents’ Bill of Rights and Compliance Standards as set out by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Must be able to work shifts. The incumbent must be able to perform all the necessary physical tasks associated with the care and assistance of residents.
The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment. You will also need to provide a current two-step tuberculosis test (obtained within the past six (6) months) by the first day of employment.

The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on the condition of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of vaccination.
