Hastings District Council – Te Kaunihera ā-Rohe o Heretaunga Looking for Traffic Engineer at Hastings, Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand Full Time

Hastings District Council is looking for a TRAFFIC ENGINEER who will provide expert traffic and road safety advice and support, known for their quality and ability to deliver and you will be an integral part of our Transportation Team and Asset Management Group. You will be Council’s Traffic and Road Safety Champion.

Responsibilities

You will plan and deliver a safe and efficient transportation infrastructure (reduce fatality and serious injury crashes, optimise network use, aim to meet the needs and expectation of the community and other stakeholders who use or benefit from the network, and to fulfil Council and Government objectives in terms of Safer Journeys Strategy, Government Policy Statement, environment and equity of access) and contribute to strategic development of network and traffic engineering standards.

Qualifications

You will have

• A Tertiary qualification in Transportation Engineering with at least ten years appropriate experience in traffic and road safety engineering
• A good knowledge and experience of working in local government especially with the focus on providing a high level of customer service to elected members, internal staff, and external customers
• A level of familiarity with using Transport Investment Online so as to enable Council to seek subsidy for its road safety programmes
• The attitude to work proactively to improve road safety within road safety strategies and forward safety works programmes
