HEIW is the lead NHS organisation for commissioning centrally funded education and training for a wide range of healthcare professional staff (including nursing, AHP’s, clinical scientists, clinical psychologists, etc.) and Support Workers (in both clinical and non-clinical areas). Within the Nurse and Health Professional Directorate of HEIW sits the Education, Commissioning and Quality Team. One of the key functions of this team is to lead in providing specialist advice on all matters relating to Work Based Learning (WBL) and Apprenticeships and to ensure education and training developed reflects the needs of NHS Wales in the delivery of high-quality care to individuals.

We currently have an exciting vacancy for a Head of Work Based Learning & Apprenticeships. The post holder will work strategically with the Deputy Director Education Commissioning and Quality and other key members of the Organisation as an autonomous practitioner with responsibility for interpreting national guidelines and providing leadership, direction and advice, demonstrating value for money and supporting the workforce modernisation agenda surrounding WBL and Apprenticeships.
