The Global Legal team is responsible for administering Hilton’s legal activities to ensure maximum protection while engaging in global business and ensuring compliance with the company’s legal obligations.
What will I be doing?
The Counsel for Labor Relations will work directly with Corporate Operations and Human Resource executives, other Hilton counsel and corporate managers in other departments, as well as with Hilton’s managed properties, including property General Managers and HR Directors.
Act as lead spokesperson in CBA negotiations for various Hilton properties.
Partner with, advise and support executives and managers in Operations, Human Resources and other Hilton business units on all labor relations-related matters
Train Corporate HR and properties and serve as subject matter authority on federal, state and local labor laws (including NLRA, LMRDA and LMRA)
Supervise NLRB unfair labor practice and other proceedings
Work onsite with Hilton properties on union representation matters
Engage and supervise outside counsel
Conduct mid-CBA labor negotiations and maintain relationships with leaders of local unions representing Hilton employees
Draft and review collective bargaining agreements, settlement agreements and other legal documents
Oversee significant CBA-related grievances and supervise labor arbitrations
Work closely with other Hilton Counsel, especially Operations, Employment and Benefits Counsel
Serve on Company committees and on industry and labor relations-related panels, committees and Boards, as assigned by the Senior Vice President of Labor Relations
Together with the Labor Relations Manager, oversee Labor Relations information management and other special projects relating to the efficient operation of the Labor Relations team and Legal Department

To fulfill this role successfully, you should demonstrate the following minimum qualifications:
Juris Doctor Degree, J.D.
Five (5) years of experience working primarily in Labor Relations with emphasis on providing advice and counsel on Labor Relations issues
Three (3) years working with union organizing and representation issues
Three (3) years of experience working with the grievance process and/or the arbitration process
First or second chair CBA negotiation experience
Experience managing collective bargaining relationships
Detailed knowledge of U.S. labor laws (NLRA, LMRA, LMRDA, etc.)
Bar membership in good standing
Eventual travel between 35% – 45%
It would be useful in this position for you to demonstrate the following capabilities and distinctions:
Ten (10) years of professional experience
Five (5) years of experience as a Labor Lawyer, including first-chairing labor arbitrations and serving as counsel in NLRB proceedings
Two (2) years of supervisory experience
Experience in Hospitality or related industries (gaming, food service, etc.)
Experience working in an in-house legal department
Knowledge of the labor laws in Canada and/or other countries in the Americas
Knowledge of ERISA and U.S. employment laws

For Colorado applicants only: The annual salary range for this role starts at $93,000 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location. Hilton offers its eligible team members a comprehensive benefits package including medical and prescription drug coverage, dental coverage, vision coverage, life insurance, short-and long-term disability insurance, a 401(k) savings plan, paid time off, and our travel discount.
