Hollingshead Barrett Eye Center is looking for a Phone representative. This position is the primary phone operator responsible for the phone system operations, data collection, taking messages and patient contact. Secondary to the phone operations is administrative support as requested.
Education and Experience:
1. High school or equivalent
2. One or more years of related work experience in year customer service, or administrative support.
Essential Skills and Abilities:
1. Ability to handle multiple phone lines with compassion and efficiency
2. Able to maintain and comply with patient confidentiality and integrity policies on all matters
3. Maintain a positive attitude under pressure
4. Take precise, accurate messages
5. Ability to properly triage patient appointments
Responsibilities:
1. Primary responsibility of answering incoming calls in a professional, friendly, and timely manner.
2. Schedule/reschedule patient appointments according to set schedule requirements and patient’s needs.
a. Triage urgency of appointment
b. Monitor daily schedules for potential problems
3. Take accurate messages or transfer phone calls as appropriate.
4. Keep current internal phone list and distribute as needed
5. Retrieve messages from answering service or operator voice mail box, making sure the patient’s request has been handled or transferred to the appropriate responsible party.
6. Maintain phone messages as required to reflect holidays.
7. Responsible for verifying that phones have rolled over to the answering service at night and on holidays.
8. Seeks educational opportunities and accepts responsibilities for own professional growth and development. Participates with in-service opportunities and staff meetings
9. Must maintain patient right to privacy by not discussing privileged information outside the work area or within hearing range of visitors, family, or patient.
10. Comply with OSHA and HIPAA established procedures at all times
11. Always be a team player
12. All other duties as assigned
13. Keeps all working areas clean, neat, and stocked
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.00 – $17.00 per hour
