Hoosier Freight & Warehousing Hiring for Dispatcher at McCordsville, IN Full Time

Hoosier Freight and Warehousing was established in 2013 in Indianapolis as an asset based third party logistics company. With warehouse operations in Indiana and Nevada, we are positioned to serve customers nationwide. Our asset-based transportation division is based out of our corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, IN and serves a 250-mile radius.

Responsibilities:

• Schedule, distribute, monitor daily work assignments.
• Scheduling and dispatching drivers to appropriate locations according to predetermined schedules, customer requests, or immediate needs.
• Communicate proactively and quickly to drivers.
• Plan and dispatch local and regional drivers
• Book daily and weekly loads using brokerage boards.
• Negotiate rates with customers
• Customer updates on booked shipments.
• Ensure shipping and receiving documents are properly invoiced.
• Record keeping of vehicle maintenance, fuel reports and permits.
• Work with Human Resources to plan driver vacations and PTO days.
• Review driver logs and other DOT requirements
• Resolves equipment failures or breakdowns to outside maintenance department.
• Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary.
• Works with leadership to determine if a driver needs to be put on a performance plan based on poor performance.
• Update customers accurately and timely.
• Speaking with supervisors or customers to resolve problems, request for services and equipment.
• Using telephones or text messages to contact employees or emergency personnel.

Education / Experience

• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as dispatcher or relevant position
• Working knowledge of a transportation management system
• Fast typing with experience in data entry
• Knowledge of procedures and guideline for emergency situations
• Proficient in English (oral and written)
• Outstanding organizational and multitasking abilities
• Active listener with excellent communication skills
• Sound judgement and critical thinking
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with others under any type of conditions.
• Ability to work under stress and remain calm during rapidly changing circumstances.
• High School Diploma
• Highly preferred experience with Samsara

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $60,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year
