Role:

Performs laboratory procedures according to established and approved protocols, which require the limited exercise of independent judgement and interpretation.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

+ Performs assigned analytical tests or procedures that require limited independent judgement.

+ Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results and takes appropriate action according to predetermined protocols.

+ Performs routine quality control and maintains accurate records. Recognizes out of control results and notifies supervisory personnel.

+ Operates instruments within the scope of training utilizing established protocols and quality control checks and recognizes equipment malfunctions and notifies appropriate supervisory personnel.

+ Communicates information such as test results, normal range, and specimen requirements to authorized sources.

Knowledge & Skills:

+ Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.

+ Education: A two year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program
