The Role:
We’re looking for a
Finance Business Partner to support our New Zealand Finance Performance Reporting team.
In this role you will be responsible for providing financial and strategic support to the Executive and Senior Leadership team of several business units within IAG NZ. A key area of responsibility will be to challenge the business on areas of financial performance and monitor the financial health of the wider business unit.
To be successful in this role you will have the ability to identify, challenge and recommend actions with the business to improved financial performance, build strong relationships across finance and the business and influence on the directions and actions required.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Support and Analysis
- Help the business and the business unit leadership team with all queries relating to financial matters including business case support, challenging assumptions where appropriate; productivity reviews and analysis; NPV analysis and modelling; and strategy support.
- Assist the leadership team in determining strategic priorities by interpreting and analysing accounting and insurance system data to evaluate financial performance.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with the Senior Leadership team.
Budgeting and Reforecasting
- Lead the business unit in the preparation of the annual budget and reforecasting cycle, providing sufficient challenge to ensure the budget outputs are realistic and achievable.
- Assist the business in understanding their likely future business performance based on actual results and historical trends.
Monthly Business Performance Monitoring
- Be the key contact and face of finance in the business.
- Prepare and/or review of the monthly performance packs for the business division providing insights to the leadership team of financial metrics, business drivers and all aspects affecting business and financial performance.
- Monitor actual results against budget and forecasts, undertake analysis to identify issues and recommend possible corrective actions where appropriate.
- Identify any potential improvements in processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency.
Contribute to excellent customer service
- Proactively contribute to improve the image and outcomes of the company within the marketplace to the external customer as well as provide excellent internal customer service. This may involve contributing to or assisting with other projects or initiatives
Skills and experience:
- Qualified Charted Accountant or equivalent
- A minimum of 6 years in a finance role of which at least 2 is to be in an industry role.
- A minimum 3 years’ experience in Finance Business Partnering
- General insurance experience and business partnering experience, or experience in a finance role which is customer facing.
- Able to demonstrate experience of the annual budget process around Revenue and associated drivers.
- Analytical, numerate and attention to detail
- Ability to negotiate and influence outcomes with Managers at all levels, including EGM. Ability to identify issues and problems and recommend actions and solutions
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
