Immersive Technologies are looking for experienced Software Engineers to lead new and exciting projects in real-time simulation.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will write high quality, robust and performant code in order to produce advanced simulation products used by global leaders in the mining industry. You will have the opportunity to lead a team of software engineers and be responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing solutions to challenging technical problems using software engineering best practices to make our simulators do awesome things.

Our simulators are state-of-the-art, with fully immersive displays rendering photo-realistic graphics in stereoscopic 3D. Our simulators use advanced head tracking and realistic cabins with real machine components on a responsive electromechanical motion platform.

In the words of one of our developers: “Imagine a giant video game, sitting in a kitted out shipping container, in a hyper-realistic cabin (we use bits of the real machines) of a massive mining machine, bouncing around on the motion platform watching the simulated world pass by on a high resolution 180 degree, floor to ceiling, curved screen that reacts in real time to your head movements as you lean forward for a better view of the dig face you are tearing apart. The tech is pretty cool.”

What we are looking for:

• Proven experience developing commercial software
• Sound knowledge of object-oriented design principles
• Ability to write high quality, readable and maintainable code
• Passion for the entire software development lifecycle from design to delivery
• Experience programming in C++
• Complementary but not essential, experience in any of C#, React/Typescript, physics modelling or 3D mathematics experience

What you’ll do:

• Plan and execute important projects from inception to delivery
• Write code in modern C++ (and sometimes C# React/TypeScript) using Visual Studio on a Windows PC with powerful hardware
• Provide guidance to junior Software Engineers (via technical discussion, code reviews and mentoring)

To be considered for this position, you will need:

• A relevant degree in computer science, games technology, mathematics, physics, engineering or similar
• Full working rights in Australia and be located in Perth, or be willing to relocate to Perth
