An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Administrator to work within the Department of Bioengineering.

This position is varied and rewarding, with a focus on supporting all stages of the admissions process to our UG and PGt courses. You will be the first point of contact for applicants guiding them from application through to enrolment.

You will assist with facilitating the administrative planning and delivery of all aspects of our annual admissions cycle taking a lead on specific courses and ensuring our internal departmental admissions and outreach webpages are kept up to date.

You will be an important member of the Admissions & Outreach Team based within the Student Office Team that provides a high-quality experience for the students and supports our academic staff to deliver a world class education.

The successful candidate will be highly motivated with outstanding organisational and communication skills combined with high level skills in data management and reporting. Experience working within a customer-focused environment and a first degree (or equivalent) are also essential.

Duties and responsibilities

• Act as first point of contact for applicant enquiries providing appropriate advice and support.
• Liaise within and beyond the Department to ensure all enquiries are dealt with promptly and professionally, following up on any issues, escalating as necessary.

• Liaise with relevant staff to clearly identify and articulate the application assessment requirements for each course.
• Organise the application process, including interview days, scholarship shortlists, applicant and offer holder events.

• Support the organisation, marketing and delivery of outreach activities for students, teachers, parents, schools and communities.
• Manage the departmental admissions and outreach website

• Contribute to the organisation of the examination process

To be successful you will have:

• Demonstrable experience of providing a customer-focused service.
• Proven experience of office administration
• Proven experience of maintaining databases and webpages (or willingness to learn)
• Excellent IT skills. Able to use MS office applications including excel
• Creative approach to problem-solving
• The ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with a wide variety of people, ranging from prospective students to senior academic staff.
• Able to meet deadlines, work flexibly and calmly, bearing in mind the needs of the customer and operational priorities
• Ability to work as part of a team and to be open-minded and cooperative
• Discipline and regard for confidentiality and security at all times
