SUMMARY
This position works under general supervision while conducting customer service activities. These activities primarily involve the receipt, processing, and resolution of household goods cargo claims and claim related matters filed by our customers. This position works closely with other carriers, service providers, drivers and crews to correctly determine liability assessments and must be able to develop a working relationship with repair firms and military claims offices. This is a full time position and in addition to the job functions listed below, this position may be required to participate in special projects and may involve working paid hours in excess of a normal 40-hour work week. Trips out of the office for claim inspection purposes or for training may be required from time to time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Adjudicate claims and rebuttals
This position has responsibility to adjudicate claims in the KPI specified time frames and CWT.
Register claims into the IMIS system including all shipment and claim activity.
Request documentation concerning shipments with claims or potential claims and any service provider information needed.
Track all activity and record conversations in the IMIS/IVUE systems
Arrange damage inspections and/or repairs with qualified service vendors.
Initiate and follow up with tracing actions for missing items.
Determine carrier and service provider liability and charge accordingly.
Process service provider rebuttals to claim liability assessments within prescribed timeframe.
Communicate in a professional manner.
Prepare claim settlement offer in written format and submit to customer within prescribed time allotted, while trying to consistently reduce the overall number of outstanding claims and amount spent.
Give prompt professional assistance and direction to customer requests in person, by telephone, email or mail.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum requirement in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint of Beginner Level. Minimum keyboard skill level of 40 wpm.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as client contracts, military regulations, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports, correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Must possess the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Must be able to compute rate, ratio and percent.
REASONING ABILITY
Must possess the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Must possess the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must complete the AMSA Certified Claims Analyst course when available.
