Location: Johnson and Johnson Vision Care – Limerick Ireland
Contract: Permanent/Full-time (4 Cycle Shift)
Reporting to: Business Unit Manager or Senior Manufacturing Engineering Team Lead
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for managing a phase (multiple production lines) to ensure critical metrics are met and to ensure a consistent and effective handover to the next team/shift. A technical or a people/team management related qualification is a requirement for this role, however time served within either discipline may be taken into consideration.

Vision Care Ireland is located in Castletroy, Limerick and is the producer of the world’s leading contact lens products. Our site uses the industry’s most advanced technology and directly employs over 1000 people. We produce a diverse array of contact lenses using our highly automated production process.
Key to our success has been the combination of state-of-the-art material science with technologies such as precision injection moulding, robotics, vision systems and data analytics.
We have over 38 advanced production lines manufacturing over 8 million contact lenses a day, which are shipped to customers worldwide.
The responsibilities & the impact YOU will have:
The Operations Supervisor will lead a team of technicians from entry and training to developing technical skill of individuals to compliment resources of the unit/phase
Manage technical issues & ensuring plans in place/operation to address these.
Day to day people management and OTJ Feedback given to techs on line—resulting in no surprises in review
Follow through on all basics such as Focus lines / handovers / housekeeping / performance of shift
Develop technicians, i.e., plans ahead in terms of how each tech moves through grid
Identify and lead cost and technical improvements under the departments’ continuous improvement program.
Provide key inputs and leadership into transformational process developments.
Project Management – provide timely and accurate reporting on project activities.
Lead New Product Introductions & Product Transfers
Lead or actively participate in multi-functional teams to ensure New Product Introduction/Research and Development projects are completed in a timely and efficient manner; always practicing good teamwork in support of operating requirements.
Demonstrate strong leadership and a clear identifiable work ethos within the team.
Develop and maintain a J&J Credo & Behavioural Standards based culture within the group.
Ensure effective closure on Quality System documents (Audit Actions, NCR’s, CAPA’s, Maps, etc).
Ensure all process developments, NPI etc are managed in accordance with the Quality management system.
Implementation of safety/environmental requirements on purchase of all new equipment.
Work with team leader to develop and implement strategic engineering Goals & Objectives.
Support the implementation of all engineering and plant strategic initiatives
All employees are responsible for minimizing both the Environmental and Health & Safety effects of the work that they perform.
Be a leader on Site Safety by actively participating in the ERT team and related training.
Qualifications
We would love to hear from YOU if you have the following essential requirements:
A QQI Level 7 and above in Management or Technical qualification or related discipline
6-10 Years’ experience in a similar supervisory role
Ability to demonstrate standards of leadership – Managing Complexity, Innovations, Customer Focus
Technical or people/team management qualification
Project Management Skills / Experience with Lean Manufacturing processes/Six Sigma
