Position Summary

We are looking for a dynamic and business savvy Marketing Manager to join our team. The Marketing Manager will oversee the product marketing and communications strategies for the Lantern releases and development in China. A successful candidate will have a strong understanding of how to rise to the top of an extremely competitive and restricted VPN marketplace in China and be able to think creatively and find novel solutions to complex marketing and business development issues. We are open to marketing ideas both in China and also for the diaspora community. Attention to detail and compliance with relevant laws and regulations will be crucial in this role. This is a project based role and will be renewed on a monthly basis depending on the project’s success.

Responsibilities

• Help define & champion Lantern’s target audiences, messaging, and positioning for Lantern in China
• Improve conversion rates, including landing pages, upgrade pages, renewal pages, and any other touchpoint for our products
• Provide recommendations for future strategic initiatives through competitive research analysis.
• Conduct market research to find answers about Chinese consumer requirements, habits and trends
• Navigate complex social and political environments and maintain cultural sensitivity in an international market
• Suggest and implement new features to develop brand awareness, like promotions and competitions
• Create and present weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports and analyses of internal results

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or a related field
• You are fluent in Mandarin and English, and are an effective communicator and writer
• 2-3 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on China
• Previous exposure to a Marketing role, ideally within a b2c technology environment
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced startup environment, setting objectives, and prioritizing activities based on impact
• Independent, self-motivated, and proactive. You don’t require constant input, and you have meticulous attention to detail
• Excellent communication, management, interpersonal skills
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to navigate complex social and political environments
• Highly curious, you are always wanting to know the “why” behind actions
• Ability to transform data into insights
