Due to the absolutely overwhelming response we received the first time we posted this job listing (well over 400 applications in 3 days) the team and I have decided to be a bit more creative with how we will go about sifting through applicants.

Our contract will be awarded to the applicant who passes all three stages of the following skills assessment. Below I have provided google drive links to the raw footage of one of our simplest episodes, an unboxing video, along with our production and asset folders which contain everything needed to complete your demo project. You may introduce new assets with your submission if you believe they raise the overall quality of the production. Applicants are to complete the episode and submit either an unlisted Vimeo or YouTube link along with their application. After review the top twenty (20) entries will be contacted via direct message on Indeed. The remaining applications will be rejected.

When round two applicants are contacted they will receive instructions as well as materials and a deadline for their second submission. Round two will be considerably more difficult, featuring one of our core content episodes, which contains both technical information as well as content geared toward engaging a more general audience. After review the top ten (10) entries will be notified via direct message on Indeed at which time they will be eligible for the final round of interviews. The applicant we believe is the most qualified AND fits best within our company culture will be awarded the contract. The remaining applications will be rejected.

Laser Everything is searching for a Video Editor! Currently, the owner and face of the channel – Alex, does 100% of the video editing for all of our content and productions. We are looking for a capable individual who is willing to learn the ins and outs of our industry in order to effectively create captivating, effective and efficient videos with the footage provided by our content creation team. Adding an editor will go a long way to free management up to work on other projects that will help grow our company.

In addition to your normal workload we also invite all team members the opportunity to sit in for any of our various podcast productions. They are either recorded in studio or live weekly. We have both a laser focused podcast “The Laser Source Podcast” and an edgy comedy podcast “Emergency Stop”. Links to each can be found above. We’re always excited to add new faces to the panel for these shows. This is completely optional but a fun part of being part of the Laser Everything family!

We hope to retain the framework of our video style but are very open to new perspectives, input, suggestions, and creative influences from our editor. We’re also hoping that our video editor will be dedicated to our channel as much as possible, as many of our videos do require in depth and specific knowledge in order to make sense of the content and produce videos that will serve as effective educational tools for our audience. There is absolutely no shortage of work, with a backlog of about 30 videos requiring editing and more being produced every week, the contract winner will be kept consistently busy. When the contract expires and if both parties are satisfied the contract winner may be offered a full time position within our company.

Currently our videos are edited in Adobe Premiere Pro and our existing staff are used to working in the Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem. While NOT a deal breaker, we would like someone who will fit well into that space and works well with Adobe software to make the addition of a new team member as fluid as possible. We will make use of Frame.io to collaborate and share video projects during the creation process to make sure the content makes sense to our viewers, delivers the necessary information in a logical way and meets any legal or contractual obligations. Content creators shoot video in resolutions up to 4K and frame rates up to 240fps up to 30 minutes long and sometimes longer! The ideal candidate will be in possession of the required hardware to render and edit these types of clips. Inherently these files require a lot of bandwidth to upload and download so the ideal candidate will also have a strong and reliable internet connection which can support such heavy traffic on a regular basis.

While a super friendly and outgoing guy, Alex is absolutely obsessed with details. You may be asked for multiple tweaks and revisions during the editing process. Everything from sound to color can stand out when he has a particular vision for a video. If awarded the contract, you will enjoy all the benefits that come along with working from home and making your own schedule. Oversight is minimal to say the least and you’ll be expected to manage your own projects and maintain your own work ethic. The Laser Everything team uses Slack for the majority of the company’s communication needs and much of the collaboration between team members takes place in the evenings and nights throughout the week. The ideal person for this role will typically be available during those hours for either text, voice or video meetings as the need arises – despite not being regularly scheduled in advance.
