About Us

We are seeking to appoint a Senior Early Years Education Advisor to join the Havering School Improvement Service (Hsis). Havering School Improvement Service is highly regarded by schools and enjoys a strong reputation both within the borough and beyond.

As the borough’s Senior Early Years Education Adviser, you will be responsible principally for providing support and challenge to primary schools, and the PVI sector in Havering, so you will need an excellent knowledge and understanding of curriculum and pedagogy in the Early Years Foundation Stage. You will be required to undertake a quality assurance role across the borough and to also provide school improvement advice, training and guidance.

About the Job

As Senior Early Years Education Advisor, you will be responsible principally for providing quality assurance to schools and settings in Havering for their Early Years provision. You will be an experienced Early Years specialist, with qualified teacher status (QTS), and a strong track record in middle and/or senior leadership in schools. You will have an up-to-date understanding of current educational issues and developments in the EYFS. You will have line management responsibility for up to 5 Early Years Advisors and be responsible for managing their performance. Relevant experience across the Early Years age range is desirable. You will be effective in data analysis and relevant IT applications. Most importantly, you will be passionate about securing the best possible outcomes for children in the Early Years and in supporting and challenging settings and schools to develop ambitious plans to improve.

Our Early Years team is made up of highly knowledgeable and experienced advisers who are committed to supporting staff at all levels to strengthen high quality pedagogy and a responsive curriculum that sets firm foundations for learning beyond EYFS .

The ideal candidate will have:

• Significant knowledge and experience in ensuring safeguarding processes and systems are in place and used effectively
• A commitment to supporting children to become critical thinkers
• Qualified Teacher Status
• Substantial experience of working in the Early Years Foundation Stage and a good understanding of the range of Early Years provision
• Excellent knowledge and understanding of effective Early Years pedagogy
• Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Early Years development and assessment
• Successful experience of partnership working, including working with parents
• Understanding of broader primary, cross phase and partnership contexts
• Knowledge and understanding of current policies and legislation relating to Early Years
• Understanding of management and development issues related to schools, PVI settings and childminding provision
• Experience of successfully managing a team of education professionals
