Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession of a valid Louisiana Sanitarian’s license issued by the Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians plus six years of professional level Sanitarian experience, three years of which must have been at the supervisory level or above.
SUBSTITUTIONS:
A master’s degree in public health, food science, dairy science, environmental or sanitary science, or one of the physical or biological sciences will substitute for one year of the required general experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid Louisiana driver’s license and be able to drive a vehicle to perform duties.
Positions in the Molluscan Shellfish program require that applicants complete the Louisiana Boating Education program and be certified by the Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.

Administers all phases of management, development, enforcement, protection, and enhancement for the Sanitarian Services Section.
Directs and reviews Sanitarian Services Section programs, technical services, and permits.
Formulates and establishes guidelines and standards for management and development for the Sanitarian Services Section.
Establishes procedures and methods to comply with state and federal laws and regulations.
Advises the Director of the Center for Environmental Health and Assistant Secretary on current and pending changes in environmental law.
Reviews for approval staff recommendations on permit requests, variances, management plans, and recommendations.
Testifies at state legislative hearings and committee meetings.
Meets and confers with other professionals, government officials, user groups, the general public, and other interested parties concerning departmental and program activities and interests.
