Due to the rapid growth of the business, we are currently recruiting for a Software Engineer to help build our core platform.

As a Software Engineer you will have the opportunity to work alongside a passionate world class engineering team. About us

• Three-plus (3+) years of experience in full stack development
• Comfortable with Node.Js, Typescript, MongoDB and SQL
• Familiar with asynchronous or reactive programming techniques and associated patterns
• Familiar with micro-services design
• Comfortable with computer science and engineering fundamentals
• Disciplined coding practices, experience with code reviews and pull requests, and a creative and conceptual problem-solving approach as opposed to framework or library-focused; We strive to build fast and lean solutions; not library/framework-heavy patchwork
• Strong communication and team collaboration skills, both written and verbal. A Lumi engineer strives to understand the exact problem before jumping into writing code – look before you leap!
• A strong ability to communicate, and a passion to share knowledge
• A can do and problem solver attitude

Your Experience

• Experience working in an agile team
• Our tech stack is distributed microservices primarily on a NodeJs, GraphQL, Mongodb + PostgreSql stack with React on the front end. AWS/Kubernetes to host it
• You can readily learn most technologies as you go. To you, technologies are about tools and tradeoffs, not an ideology
• You care about the business implications of anything you build. You’re not just going after cool stuff
• You should have used Nodejs and Mongodb before on a production application
• We foster a collaborative and iterative approach to development. You should be comfortable sharing your ideas, proposed architecture solutions, conducting collaborative code reviews and engaging in pair programming
• We are looking for outcome based engineers. You will not receive a detailed document telling you how to write the code or design the architecture. You will be responsible for understanding the intended user outcome, and designing the best solution and/or architecture to achieve the desired result.
• You should feel confident writing testable, maintainable and readable code that follows best practice and has a foundation is strong engineering principles
• Someone that embraces change and thrives from it. You should embrace changing requirements and feedback and view it as an iteration towards a better solution. You should thrive off this and view it as a step forward rather than feeling like it is a set back
