Mediate Hiring for Youth Support Worker Job at Auckland Full Time

Mediate are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and reliable Māori or Pasifika Youth Worker in various locations around Auckland. Applicants must have a passion for working with a range of young people, who may at times have high and complex needs. At Mediate, we offer a range of services to support young people to improve their education around health and wellbeing. As supportive, confident and positive role models, youth workers engage with young people in building confidence and resilience so they can make positive choices for their future.

We are looking for:

• Experience working alongside young people with behavioural concerns
• Familiarity or experience in working with complex families
• Family therapy experience will be an advantage
• Social work or other clinical qualification (however open to other qualifications)
• Someone with excellent relationship skills, able to effectively work with key stakeholders

Applicants for this position should have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.

We would like you to have:

• Strong relationship building abilities
• Good oral and written communication skills
• An affinity for our client base
• Comfortable to follow a set plan and executing these throughout the day
• The ability to work with a team professionally and confident to also work one on one with clients
• Resilience, empathy, and understanding
• A strong understanding of their own Pasifika culture (e.g. Fa’a Samoa) or Te Ao Māori (Māori world view). It would be helpful if they spoke in their native tongue.
• Understanding of, and commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi

· A clean current full driver’s license

· Clean police vetting records

Education:

• Bachelor Degree (Preferred)

Experience:

• working alongside complex whaanau: 1 year (Preferred)
• working alongside complex families: 1 year (Preferred)

Language:

• Your native tongue would be great (Preferred)

Licence/Certification:

• Class 1 Driver Licence (Preferred)

Shift availability:

• Day Shift (Preferred)
• Night Shift (Preferred)
• Overnight Shift (Preferred)

Willingness to travel:

• 75% (Preferred)
