Our reward package

As our Education Outreach Partner , your starting salary will be £37418.00 and you will have opportunities to progress to £41159.00 over time. New joiners to the Met Office will start on the salary band minima.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £52,966 annually, which includes basic salary, potential corporate bonus and employer pension contributions.

Job Purpose

As our Education Outreach Partner , your key duties are:

• Apply cross-Met Office knowledge and wider understanding of the education and outreach sectors to grow and evaluate our programme, aligned to the Met Office’s aims, objectives and values.
• Manage the development and delivery of our education outreach programme, including our online resources and our STEM Ambassador activities.
• Proactively identify, build and maintain relationships between the Met Office and other key local, regional, national and international organisations involved in education outreach, using these relationships to encourage collaboration.
• Continuously seek better or more innovative education outreach approaches that could enhance our audiences’ experiences and deepen our impact.
• Line manage and support the professional development of our Education Outreach Learning Consultant(s). Provide short-term task management and support the personal development of volunteers to the Met Office Education Outreach programme delivery team, fostering a culture of creativity, curiosity and in-the-flow-of-work learning.
• Provide expert advice on inclusive and accessible education outreach content, design and delivery to individuals and teams across the Met Office.
• Manage the programme budgets; identify and apply for internal / external funding opportunities to increase outreach revenue.
• Ensure compliance with best practice data protection and safeguarding approaches.

Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities

• An understanding of the UK’s formal and informal education scenes, and able to articulate how an effective Education Outreach programme, one with inclusion at its heart, could contribute to the Met Office’s future success.
• An inclusive leader, with an ability to inspire, manage, and develop a team so that they have the capability and capacity to meet our current and future needs.
• Experience in the development, delivery and evaluation of a wide-ranging portfolio of education outreach activities and initiatives.
• Able to successfully develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners, working closely with these to understand how we can maximise our reach and impact and broaden the relevance of our work.
• An ability to operate, and successfully deliver, outcomes with significant degree of autonomy, acting on own initiative to successfully pursue opportunities against an agreed strategy.
