Meta Hiring for Manager, Technical Accounting and Policy at Trenton, New Jersey Full Time

Summary:

Meta is seeking a seasoned Technical Accounting Manager who can move fast and learn quickly to help solve technical accounting issues for emerging significant, non-routine, and unique transactions, with a focus on broad areas including Infrastructure, Procurement, Connectivity, Leasing and Data Centers/ Facilities. As a Manager in our growing and dynamic Technical Accounting team, you will be responsible for understanding the finer details of proposed or executed transactions through review of available contracts and agreements, focusing on accounting risk assessment and collaboration with key cross-functional business partners including our US and International Accounting teams. You will leverage your experience researching relevant accounting guidance to identify key accounting issues and to recommend accounting solutions and disclosure requirements for complex and non-routine transactions and ensure that our accounting policy and accounting estimates are updated timely to reflect all changes. Your ability to communicate concisely and effectively, will inform all key Infrastructure Business Partners, Legal, Tax and the broader Finance organization of the accounting and business implications of transactions, particularly those with limited or no accounting background. You will also embrace ambiguity and Meta’s move fast culture by prioritizing responsibilities based on impact and transition well between various accounting topics, which may include areas such as: property, plant & equipment, leasing, commitments, variable interest entities (VIEs), derivatives and financial instruments.

Required Skills:

Manager, Technical Accounting and Policy Responsibilities:

1. Interpret U.S. GAAP accounting standards and SEC guidance to determine the accounting and financial reporting treatment, including internal control considerations, for new material, and/or complex, unusual transactions or agreements including in the deal structuring phase.

2. Research accounting implications from changes in the subject areas, prepare accounting memos, reach conclusions after evaluating various viewpoints/guidance and concisely communicate accounting conclusions to the team.

3. Partner with Infrastructure Accounting teams to operationalize the accounting relating to complex transactions as well as assist in designing relevant controls.

4. Develop and maintain strong relationships with Infrastructure Business Partners to understand the broader business objectives, and provide accounting guidance and best practice recommendations to enable process changes.

5. Partner with our International Technical Accounting team to bridge to the related IFRS accounting standards and our SEC reporting team to bridge to relevant disclosure requirements.

6. Monitor, understand and provide interpretation of new and proposed accounting pronouncements in areas of focus to assist key stakeholders in assessing financial, operational, and reporting implications.

7. Facilitate trainings on relevant accounting topics to Meta personnel.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Bachelor or higher degree in accounting or finance

2. CPA or equivalent qualification with US GAAP experience

3. 10+ years of financial statement auditing, financial accounting or similar experience

2. Experience in a technical accounting role of a public US company

3. Experience working through ambiguity to communicate clear accounting positions and operational solutions

4. Experience working with business partners and cross functional teams to effect changes

5. Infrastructure Accounting experience across Procurement, Connectivity, Leasing and Data Centers/Facilities

6. Demonstrated knowledge and experience researching and documenting new accounting guidance/policy and the accounting treatment of complex issues
