Immigration New Zealand is the operational delivery arm of the immigration system. Our core functions are:
You will play a vital role in making sound decisions processing visa applications that will make a positive impact and benefit our people and communities here in Aotearoa. In this role, you will be working in collaboration with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
One of your primary responsibilities will be to interpret immigration legislation to make quality immigration decisions quickly, using your proven analytical, judgement, and well-developed decision-making abilities. As an Immigration Officer, you will be working in a high-volume and high pace environment, that can change rapidly. Previous experience in a similar environment would be beneficial along with a strong customer service background, case management, organisational skills and computer literacy.
You will be joining an innovative, dynamic and vibrant team. Your strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish a positive and consultative working relationship with stakeholders will be one of the key successes to this role.

We offer a range of flexible working options within MBIE. It can take approx. 3-4 months to be fully competent in your role, so to ensure your success you will be fully trained and supported within the branch during this time. Once you are fully trained and can work independently you can speak with your manager about flexible working arrangements.
