About the role:
The Digital, Communications and Transformation Branch works on complex issues that will transform key sectors of the economy to improve the lives of all in Aotearoa.
We are looking for two highly organised individuals with great communication and relationship skills to support our Digital Policy or Radio Spectrum Policy and Planning teams at the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE).
We have a full-time Personal Assistant/Team Administrator role where we are looking for rising star who is keen to learn, support a busy manager and team, and act as (or perhaps even become) an Executive Assistant in time. This mahi would suit a well-organised person, who is ambitious, kind, careful with detail, and good with people.
The full-time role is in the Digital Policy Team which supports the digital transformation of our society and economy and has a focus on growing the New Zealand digital technologies sector. Economic growth is our focus – we help the country to keep pace with global tech trends to embrace opportunities and reduce potential harms.
We have a part time (0.6 FTE) Personal Assistant/Team Administrator role that would suit someone looking for balance between work and life – maybe you need to do the school run every day or you just want a bit more breathing time in your week. Either way, we are looking for someone who is well-organised, kind, careful with detail, and good with people.
The part-time role is in the Radio Spectrum Policy and Planning team – a team which works to ensure that New Zealand makes the best of the opportunities available from the use of “wireless” technologies. This includes ensuring that your phone works as fast as it can while not causing interference to satellite communications, your Wi-Fi does not interfere with weather radars and your baby monitor doesn’t disable aircraft navigation systems.
MBIE supports a wide range of flexible working arrangements. Talk to us about what might work for both you and us.
When applying, please state in your cover letter which role your application is intended for.

MBIE recognises the partnership founded under Te Tiriti o Waitangi between Māori and the Crown and is committed to giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We will do this through enduring, meaningful and effective partnerships with iwi, Māori, other Māori groups/organisations and the Crown, as this is critical to enable economic and social development, both for Māori and for wider Aotearoa New Zealand. We are committed to continuing to partner with iwi in order to find new sustainable solutions to address long standing systemic and cross-cutting issues facing Māori and wider Aotearoa New Zealand and we are also committed to identifying opportunities for iwi to lead and creating an enabling environment for iwi to leverage these opportunities.
