ML6 Search + Talent Advisory Looking for Director of Sales at Toronto , Ontario Full Time

The Opportunity:

Our client, a Food Manufacturer in Toronto, has partnered with ML6 in their search for a Director of Sales to join their growing team! 

What You’ll Be Doing:

• As a member of the Senior Executive Team, you will participate in the leadership of the overall business of the company.
• Works closely with the other members of the SET to address business issues and opportunities and helps to develop business objectives and drive corporate strategies.
• Overall responsibility for the development of the sales strategy 
• Lead the sales team and organization through the execution of the sales strategy 
• Develop the long term plan and spearhead the efforts of setting and achieving the diversity objectives across customers, channels, geographies, and product lines.  
• Maximize net sales by leveraging existing and future production capacity and secure incremental business from new and existing customers in both Canada and US.
• Participate in the new project screening process to ensure proper prioritization and selection of which new opportunities to take on.
• Help lead the production capacity planning strategy to maximize the existing production capacity as well as plan for future capacity expansion and balance the production needs across all customers and products.
• Participate in the setting Annual Operating Plan net sales targets as well as Latest Estimates throughout the year as necessary.
• Work closely with the Supply Chain Manager and Purchasing Manager to develop commodity purchasing strategies and approve commodity future contracts.
• Responsible for customer price management including quoting on new product bid opportunities as well as updating pricing on existing products based on commodity and other cost changes.
• Responsible for the communication and negotiation of price changes with customers.
• Leverage the product profitability model to understand product profitability and assist with existing and new products’ price bidding and optimizing corporate profitability based on production capacity.
• Responsible for the net sales performance against Annual Operating Plan and prior year.
• Understand and work collaboratively with Supply Chain and Finance to help with the reconciliation of demand against supply capacity, and assist with the decisions of customer and product prioritization if supply capacity falls short of demand. 
• Oversee the efforts of the project coordinators in the planning and managing of all aspects of new product projects and trials including budget, scope, timing, quality and execution.
• Oversee the R&D team and their critical role in the development and/or adaptation of customers’ products into the production facility by working closely with project management, engineering, operations and supply chain team.
• Responsible for the development, management, coaching and performance evaluation of a team of seven positions across sales, project management and R&D.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful:

• 10+ years of sales/business development within Manufacturing
• Previous experience working within Food or CPG production 
• Business degree and/or MBA
• Experience in customer negotiations and account management
• Strong analytical skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to support recommendations and drive actions
• Strong leadership and team building skills
• Strong written and verbal communication as well as excellent interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in Excel and SAP
