We are now seeking a full stack Javascript developer to join our Sydney team to work on our data visualisation product MongoDB Charts.

MongoDB Charts is a web application that allows users to intuitively create and share charts and dashboards of their data stored in MongoDB. Built on a web stack using modern Javascript (ES6+), Typescript, Node JS and React, we utilize the latest web technologies to deliver an easy-to use, flexible BI tool for data analysts that fully supports MongoDB’s rich document schema and aggregation features.

Note – this role is remote optional until January 10, 2022. We are looking to speak to candidates who plan to be available in Sydney when we introduce our hybrid model.

Our ideal candidate for this role will have

• 2 + years commercial experience developing web applications in Javascript
• Experience in web technologies, including object-oriented JavaScript, Typescript or React.js
• Experience in HTML, CSS, or other modern web technologies
• Ability to write high-performance, reusable code for UI components, including appropriate unit, functional and integration testing
• Good understanding of algorithms and data structures, and their time and space performance
• Curiosity, a positive attitude, and a drive to always learn something new
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Position Expectations

• Contribute high quality code across the full stack of our product
• Give and solicit feedback on code reviews and scope/specification documents
• Collaborate with Product Management and UX Design teams, help prioritize the backlog and plan sprints
• Developing software using a TDD approach

Success Measures

Within the first three months, you will have:

• taken our new hire technical training
• learned about our tech stack, development practices and code base
• participated in pair programming with your colleagues and implemented a few small features and bug fixes
• participated in code reviews

Within six months, you will have:

• collaborated with our designers to turn design prototypes into working features
• contributed to technical design documents
• actively participated in our quarterly planning

Within 12 months, you will have:

• taken responsibility for the planning and execution of a major feature, representing Engineering when working with Product and Design
• learnt and contributed to all parts of the stack
