Who we need
Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, we are looking for a Material Handler / Order Picker in Ajax. You will play a crucial part in our production process, collecting and delivering packaging materials to the line. You will apply your proactive, energetic approach to be part of a team focused on zero safety incidents, inventory accuracy, and ongoing warehouse optimization projects.
Shift Type: Rotating shifts on days (7 am – 3:30 pm), afternoons (3 pm – 11:30 pm) and nights (11 pm – 7:30 am). Must be able to work all three shifts and on weekends as required.
Pay Rate: $29.47/hour + shift premiums
What’s in it for you
Impact. You want to play a critical role in supporting the timely packaging and shipping of our tea products. You want to learn the business, understand the environment, and do your best work. This is a chance to contribute to processes that reduce non-value tasks and streamline the work of material handlers.
Career development. At Mother Parkers, our commitment to continuous improvement starts with our people. With ongoing training and learning opportunities, this is a place to build your career. Whether you are interested in moving into a more technical role in another production and packaging area, you will be supported in your goals.
A company that cares. This is a well-structured, organized, and collaborative environment. Joining us is a chance to be part of a company that prioritizes the health and safety of their teams, from the highest level of plant operations, preventative maintenance, and quality standards. It’s an opportunity to work with leading programming, technology, and operations at a Canadian-owned food & beverage company.
What you will do:
Deliver materials and goods. You will supply packaging materials to production lines, remove finished goods from production lines to the finished goods area, assist with wrapping pallets, and move to the Shipping area.
Inventory. You will perform cycle counts for materials and update the inventory management system. You will return unused stock to the designated warehouse area and ensure proper count and storage in racking after a production run. You will maintain the warehouse, ensuring adequate racking space is available.
Safety. You will operate the forklift with the utmost safety precautions. You will conduct daily equipment inspections to ensure all equipment is in good working order. You will report food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate actions.
Communicate across teams. You will work closely with multiple departments to ensure packaging materials are delivered and end products are completed on time.
What you bring to the role:
The certification and the skills. You have a high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience. You have:
A clean driving record.
A forklift operating license (Counterbalance, Reach, Walkie).
Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Experience with an inventory management system.
The interpersonal skills. You have effective communication skills, including the ability to follow work safety guidelines and directions. You are a highly collaborative team player who can communicate with Production, Planning, Quality, Shipping and Receiving, and Procurement to relay and obtain information about the quality and supply of materials.
The self-direction. You are motivated, and you thrive in a fast-paced environment. You can work independently with minimal supervision, organize your priorities, and manage your time effectively. You are happy to jump in where and when you are needed.
The flexibility. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment with high complexity. You can adapt to different shifts.
What we offer you:
We want you to feel appreciated. We provide a competitive Total Rewards package, including health benefits from Day 1, employer matched retirement savings plans, and optional Health or Wellness Spending Account.
We value continuous learning, skills development, and career growth and we offer a Tuition Assistance Program for learning outside our environment.
We want you to take your work home. While you don’t have to drink coffee to work here, we have an employee discount on our tea and coffee products.
If you want to join our mission of creating a better beverage experience as an integral and valued member of our team, and you have 70% or more of the qualifications we are looking for, we invite you to express your interest here. While we can’t guarantee an interview, we do promise to review your resume and see if this might be a good fit for both of us.
