The role*
You will join a passionate engineering team within the centralised DevOps function, building and maintaining one of MYOB’s developer platforms. We have multiple opportunities available across our teams, encompassing Kubernetes, Observability (logging, metrics, tracing) and Developer Experience platforms. Our services are built in AWS, and we utilise languages such as Golang, Bash and / or Python.

Our customers are the technology teams in MYOB, and our mission is to help them deliver with increased speed, stability, security and reliability. We focus on creating a platform that development teams use to deliver and maintain applications with minimal time and effort. We embrace the mindset of ‘platform as a product’, supporting them with training, mentoring and collaboration.

What you will do

• Extend and evolve the platform to adapt to customer needs whilst maintaining an exceptional level of stability and reliability.

• Ensure our systems are operating optimally, by engaging in operational improvements, maintenance and access management.

• Work closely with development teams across the company to understand problems, evaluate patterns and best-practices and identify opportunities for the team to add value.

• Embrace Lean principles and work as a part of an Agile team – utilising sprints, epics, experiments, and iterating based on feedback.

• Drive adoption of our services and tooling through workshops, training and consultation.

• Seek opportunities to automate our own services and processes, reducing operational toil.

• Champion improvement through retros and team collaboration through pairing and demos.

What skills you will need*

• Confident in software development. We use Go, Bash and Python predominantly, and will happily support you to learn these, provided you are proficient in another modern language like C#, Java, or Ruby.

• Proficient in one of the key public cloud offerings, ideally AWS, including Infrastructure as Code technologies and processes.

• Experience running a robust production platform using operational constructs such as Serverless, containerisation (Docker) or container orchestration (i.e. Kubernetes, Docker Swarm).

• Experience using a modern CI/CD tooling suite, with knowledge of Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment best practises.

• It would be a bonus to have knowledge of:

Configuration management tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Cloud Infrastructure provisioning tools (e.g. AWS CloudFormation/CDK).
Experience with using systems in Linux environments.
An understanding of immutable deployments, 12 factor applications and other cloud patterns.
