Customs is in search of a motivated and talented Lead Communications and Digital Advisor to join its small, high-performing team that’s committed to collaboration and achieving results. Come and join an interesting and rewarding sector to help make a real impact!
About this role | Mō tēnei tūranga mahi
At Customs, our purpose is to protect and promote New Zealand across borders. We stop threats entering New Zealand – anything that might harm New Zealanders and their livelihoods – and help protect and grow New Zealand’s economic prosperity.
This role will be charged with amplifying Customs’ mahi through co-leading the development and implementation of its communications and engagement strategy.
What you’ll be doing | He aha tāu e mahi ana
You will play a lead role in a close-knit, virtual team that’s geographically spread across Auckland, Wellington, and Dunedin whose skillsets and focus include internal and external communications, stakeholder and public engagement, media engagement, content creation as well as digital channels and publications management.
You will drive the ongoing enhancement of proactive communications opportunities, and supporting policies and guidelines, with a specific Digital Channels focus. As a skilled lead advisor, you will also ensure mentorship support and guidance to your team as second in charge to the Communications and Media Manager.
As an experienced communications practitioner, you will enjoy working with a certain level of autonomy that includes ownership over specific portfolios and relationships within Customs. While prior experience within public sector communications will be advantageous, we are seeking someone with the right mindset and an ambition to make a positive difference.
Join us and we will welcome you into a culture that supports kotahitanga (equality), manaakitanga (kindness) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship).
