Our Parliamentary Security Officers are the friendly faces welcoming you onto the Parliamentary Precinct and play an integral role within Parliament. Our Security Group are collectively responsible for providing 24 hours per day, 7 days per week security services to members of Parliament, staff, contractors, stakeholders, visitors, and customers who work within and visit New Zealand’s Parliament.

In this key position, you will provide pro-active customer and security services to the Parliamentary Precincts, and to Members of Parliament and staff working in our communities, and in Electorate & Community Offices across New Zealand.
This is a physically active role that is suited to someone with sound judgement and a well-balanced approach as you will be responding to incidents, emergency situations, protests and events.
You will be well known for excellent communication skills and have the resilience and ability to adapt to different situations and scenarios – no two days are ever the same in this environment. We welcome hundreds of visitors every day and you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and secure operation of security screening, while providing exceptional customer service to our visitors.
The appointing base salary for this role is $57,361 per annum. (remuneration band extends beyond the appointing salary to account for tenure progression).
