We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our team of Plaster Room Technicians, who work within a busy and vibrant Orthopaedic department.
Our Plaster Room Team is responsible for the casting, splinting and bracing needs of all our patients at the NNUH, whilst also working closely with patients to inform and educate them along their road to recovery.
The team see a wide variety of patients, which include outpatient clinics, inpatient wards and theatres, treating both adult and paediatric patients.
The orthopaedic department is a busy regional trauma centre and forward thinking department offering a range of elective and trauma care to the local community.
We have a team of orthopaedic surgeons, some with international recognition in their specialities. Patients are cared for on 2 dedicated orthopaedic wards and within a dynamic outpatient department, where 8,500 orthopaedic procedures, 54,000 outpatient appointments and 4,500 pre-admission appointments are undertaken annually, with projected numbers expected to increase.
This is a developmental role working within the plaster room under the direction of the Orthopaedic Practitioner.
This job will progress to a Band 4 upon completion of the British Orthopaedic Association Casting Course within 2 years of obtaining the post, please see job descriptions and person specifications for further details.
The post-holder will make available to all patients, the application/removal and assessment of casts as prescribed by a medical practitioner. The post-holder will work primarily in support of the Orthopaedic and Trauma Services, promoting interdepartmental co-operation and communication.
