Details about the role
We are pleased to be recruiting an Elective Home Education (EHE) Assistant Officer. In this role, you will be part of the Elective Home Education Team which leads on discharging Norfolk County Council’s statutory duties in relation to children being educated at home. You will be responsible for providing advice and guidance to parents regarding provision of a suitable education and ensuring children are safe at home. This is a responsible position where you will be making decisions on suitability of education provided at home (support offered from EHE Officers).
Who you will work alongside
You will work with our established team of officers and assistant officers, families, schools, other education colleagues, partner agencies and other Local Authorities as part of their advice and guidance work in supporting children’s education at home.
Key skills required
We are looking for someone who has experience of working in schools and with families, as they will work with schools, other Local Authorities, agencies and families to ensure that home educated children are educated in accordance with legislation, national guidance and local procedures.
We are looking for a highly organised person with strong communication skills who can offer appropriate support to families and liaise with other agencies. You must be able to work on your own initiative as you will be managing your own caseload. You must have experience of working in a school.

Job holders will be expected to understand what is meant by safeguarding vulnerable groups (children, young people and adults) and how to raise concerns.
This role is available on a full time and permanent basis.
