North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare NHS Trust has opportunities for the right candidate to join our existing Mental Health Support Team (MHST), working alongside a team of Education Mental Health Practitioner’s and Senior Mental Health Practitioners to deliver, under supervision, high-quality; outcome-informed, focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing, mild to moderate anxiety, low mood and behavioural difficulties.

You will be expected to provide support for the work of other members of the multidisciplinary team and signpost children, young people and families to appropriate support. Finally, to contribute where appropriate, to the service development and consultation to the wider MDT.

This is an exciting time in the Transformation of Children and Young People’s Mental Health Services, and as one of the founding areas for this service, this role is a perfect opportunity to help shape the services we provide in North Staffordshire and The Moorlands in our Trailblazer schools.

Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) are part of the government’s Mental Health Support Team’s (MHST) plans for schools to provide early intervention mental health support.

This will allow the post holder, with appropriate supervision, to work as an autonomous and responsible practitioner as their training affords and within the scope of their local job description, to engage in;

• Delivering evidence-based intervention for children and young people in education setting with mild to moderate mental health problems
• Helping children and young people within these settings who present with more severe problems to rapidly access more specialist services
• Supporting and facilitating staff in education settings to identify and where appropriate manage issues related to mental health and wellbeing
